Biography

Dr. Yuvaraj Velusamy, M.Tech., Ph.D. is a Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Shree Sathyam College of Engineering and Technology, Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. With over 17 years of experience in teaching, research, academic leadership, and healthcare technology, he is dedicated to advancing biomedical engineering through innovation, education, and translational research.

He holds a Ph.D. in Nanomedicine from VIT University and possesses multidisciplinary qualifications in Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering, Management, and Clinical Psychology. His research interests include biomedical instrumentation, medical devices, nanomedicine, artificial intelligence in healthcare, IoT-enabled healthcare systems, clinical engineering, healthcare technology management, biomaterials, and regulatory affairs.

Dr. Yuvaraj has authored numerous national and international research publications and holds 21 Indian patents, reflecting his commitment to innovation and technology development. His work focuses on transforming research ideas into practical healthcare solutions that benefit society.

A passionate educator and mentor, he has guided hundreds of undergraduate engineering projects and actively promotes project-based learning, innovation, intellectual property creation, and entrepreneurship among students. He strongly believes that engineering education should bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world healthcare challenges.

He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has served in several leadership positions within IEEE, contributing to student development, professional activities, and engineering education. He is also a Certified Innovation Ambassador (Advanced Level) under the Ministry of Education’s Institution’s Innovation Council initiative and has successfully completed several government-funded and IEEE SIGHT-supported projects.

Beyond academia, Dr. Yuvaraj has served as the Chief Executive Officer of ABS Multispecialty Hospital and continues to contribute as a Technical Advisor, integrating academic research with clinical practice and healthcare innovation. His vision is to develop affordable, intelligent, and patient-centered healthcare technologies that improve quality of life and contribute to the future of precision medicine.
